Women Shaping the Future of Architecture
This is what power looks like when it builds. A room filled with women who design, lead, challenge, mentor, create, and shape the world around us. Architecture is stronger because of the women pushing it forward. The ones leading studios, rethinking spaces, opening doors, changing conversations, and proving that influence is built through talent, courage, and vision. This moment was more than recognition. It was a reminder that when women in architecture come together, the industry does not just celebrate progress. It feels it.

From Sketch to School: How One Student’s Design Travelled from the UK to Oman
In a world where schools often talk about global citizenship, one design challenge actually made it real. A pool table, designed by a student in the UK, is now at the heart of a school in Oman. Not just an object in a room, but a powerful expression of cross-cultural camaraderie, creative confidence, and shared learning values. When Kidzink launched a design challenge at RGS Guildford International, it wasn’t just about designing furniture. It was about giving students the power to influence how and where learning happens, anywhere in the world. Hugo’s pool table design won for a reason. It was bold, functional, and full of purpose. Kidzink took his idea from sketch to a full-scale product delivered it to RGS Guildford Muscat, where it now fuels connection, collaboration, and play in the school’s dynamic learning space. At the reveal, Max Sandberg, Customer Relationship Manager at Kidzink, stood alongside students and staff to celebrate a powerful truth. An idea born in one classroom can reshape the culture of another, thousands of miles away. This isn’t just a pool table. It’s living proof that when learners are empowered as creators, they don’t just design objects. They design connection, meaning, and a future that spans continents.

Designing schools these days is more than about big classrooms by Charlotte Borghesi
I often say that the UAE and the wider region are driving innovation in education, because it's true. The pace of change here presents an incredible opportunity: to rethink how we design schools for the future, not just for today. Schools are long-term investments that should foster learning environments that inspire students and support not just their well-being but those of the communities they operate in, and not just for today but for generations to come. Designing schools for longevity and impact For years, innovation in school design focused on new buildings and state-of-the-art facilities. But true progress means designing schools with longevity and adaptability in mind. Schools must maximize existing spaces, create flexible environments, and integrate sustainable solutions that enhance the learning experience. With urban expansion and greenfield sites becoming scarce, repurposing older buildings, optimizing layouts, and designing multi-use spaces are crucial. Every square meter should serve a purpose, whether for learning, collaboration, or well-being. Schools must also be responsive to evolving curriculum, pedagogy, and technology, ensuring their relevance for decades.

Kidzink and 29er launch global youth initiative to spark creativity through sailing
Dubai, UAE – Kidzink, a global leader in educational design, has partnered with the 29er Class Association, an international sailing body that governs and promotes the 29er, a high-performance youth racing skiff sailed by two-person crews around the world to launch a ground-breaking initiative that links sailing with creativity, learning, and youth development. Over 800 young sailors are expected to participate across the European and World Championships. Set against the backdrop of the 29er European (1-8 July) and World Championships (1-8 Aug), this collaboration uses hands-on design workshops, data-backed research, and visual storytelling to show how physical activity and sportsmanship can support a new vision for education. With creativity now recognised as one of the most essential cognitive skills of the future, this project is a timely response to declining creative engagement in schools. By placing creativity at the centre of the experience, Kidzink and 29er are not only supporting elite youth athletes but also helping reimagine the environments in which learning takes place. The programme includes a keynote talk, creativity and happiness surveys, and a workshop titled Float Your Future where sailors design and build small-scale floating eco-hub schools using recycled materials. The goal: to explore how creativity, sportsmanship, and personal well-being intersect. Winning team ideas will be shared with schools globally, and each winner’s school will be offered a design session with Kidzink to co-create a creative or well-being space. “Our mission has always been to design learning spaces that think differently,” said Charlotte Borghesi. “This collaboration gives us a new lens. By listening to young athletes, we can reshape educational spaces to be more inclusive of the energy, creativity, and balance they naturally embody.” This initiative is also deeply personal to Charlotte Borghesi, Co-Founder and General Manager of Kidzink. A world-class sailor in her own right, Charlotte made history in 2023 as the first woman to win the SB20 World Championship at the helm, and followed it up with a victory at the SB20 Women’s World Sailing Championship in Singapore in 2025. Her journey through sport, entrepreneurship, and education has long been rooted in the belief that creativity and discipline go hand-in-hand. This collaboration reflects her commitment to building platforms where young people can thrive as complete individuals, in learning, in sport, and in life. Many Olympic sailors have trained in the 29er class in their youth, making this platform a key stepping stone for aspiring athletes worldwide. The shared emphasis on high performance, resilience, and creative problem-solving forms the foundation of this unique partnership. Research collected during the events will feed into Kidzink’s upcoming publication, Beyond the Box, a book exploring the future of educational design, student voice, and holistic development. The event will spotlight sailor voices and creative moments, as part of Kidzink’s broader campaign to challenge traditional norms around learning. The programme will roll out during the 29er Europeans in Lake Garda from 1-8 July 2025, and continue at the 2025 29er Worlds Championship in Porto, to be held from 1-8 August. Kidzink will also run creativity assessments using validated tools to understand how sailing impacts student creativity and well-being.

Freqently Asked Questions
Freqently Asked
Questions
How does school design impact learning outcomes?
Research shows that physical environment can influence up to 16% of learning progress. At Kidzink, we optimize critical variables including air quality, natural lighting, acoustic design, and spatial flexibility through The Enriched Environment Model™. Our neuroscience-informed approach addresses cognitive, sensory, motor, and social-emotional needs simultaneously, creating learning environments where students naturally thrive. Schools implementing our integrated design approach report 40% increases in enrollment inquiries and significant improvements in student engagement.
What is integrated educational design?
Integrated educational design means strategy, architecture, and furniture designed by one team from concept to completion. At Kidzink, our architects understand furniture constraints from day one, and our furniture designers know the architectural vision before drawing a single piece. This eliminates the "fragmentation gap" where pedagogical vision gets lost between disconnected vendors. The result: learning environments where space, pedagogy, and furniture work together seamlessly.
What is the benefit of an integrated design approach
It eliminates fragmentation. By having architects, furniture designers, acoustic specialists, and learning strategists in the same room, we ensure the furniture actually fits the pedagogy, the building actually supports the furniture, and the acoustics enable clear communication. One team means faster project completion, consistent vision from strategy to delivery, and no coordination delays between multiple vendors.
Why is school furniture important for learning?
Educational furniture affects how students engage with learning environments. Through The Enriched Environment Model™, Kidzink Furniture designs pieces that respond to cognitive, sensory, motor, and social-emotional needs simultaneously. When furniture supports learning instead of fighting it, teachers stop managing rooms and start teaching. A Year 3 classroom can transition from circle time to small group work to independent reading in under 2 minutes, the furniture does the work.
Does Kidzink work on existing school renovations?
Yes. We specialize in transforming legacy buildings into modern learning hubs through strategic architectural interventions and bespoke furniture solutions. Strategic intervention zones identify key spatial changes with maximum pedagogical impact. We've helped 50-year-old buildings outperform brand new schools through targeted improvements.
Can Kidzink design university spaces and K-12 schools?
Yes. We've designed 1,000+ learning environments spanning Early Years centers through university campuses across 20+ countries. Our education-only focus since 2017 means we understand how different age groups use space differently, from kindergarten play-based learning to university research collaboration. Every project is informed by The Enriched Environment Model™ and adapted to your specific educational context.
